Spinal Stenosis is the narrowing of the spinal canal (central stenosis) or of the spinal nerve root exit (lateral or foraminal stenosis). As the space narrows, the nerve roots and/or spinal cord can become compressed and cause pain, numbness, and cramping in the back, neck, and limbs, with the potential loss of bladder or bowel control. Spinal stenosis is thought to be irreversible, but may be treated with exercise, or medications (such as NSAIDS anti-inflammatories and cortisone). In some cases, surgery can help by removing the lamina (roof) of one or more vertebrae to create more space for the nerves. 1-3 .

How the Gokhale MethodSM can help

Re-establishing length at problematic sites in the spine decompresses the nerve roots as they branch away from the spinal cord via the spinal foramina. The Gokhale MethodSM trains people to lengthen their spines in a very precise manner at the particular vertebral level where the problem lies.

Where can I learn more?

You will learn to lengthen your spine in Sessions 1, 2, and 3 of the Gokhale MethodSM 101 course, and in Lessons 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the book 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back .
